The article is illustrated with an advertisement for glasses from the Shanghai newspaper \u201eMin pao\u201c. The slogan of the advertisement says; \u201eIt\u2018s better to see with your eyes than to hear with your ears\u201c.<\/p>\n<p>The article, written by L. Boymgarten, describes \u201eYoung China\u201c, whose first aim is the emancipation of Chinese women through education. He talks about Chinese language, freedom fighters and the revolutionary Sun Yat-sen.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2018s an interesting postscript: \u201eChinese script is read from top to bottom, right to left\u201c. This is the traditional direction of reading and writing of Chinese characters.
