The director\u2019s latest film is about Estonian children who fled Estonia in 1944 with their parents, sometimes with only one parent or relative, and spent the war in the Geislingen refugee camp in southern Germany. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"495\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.lnb.lt\/lituanistika\/files\/2020\/03\/Film-poster_-geislingen-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.lnb.lt\/lituanistika\/files\/2020\/03\/Film-poster_-geislingen-1.jpg 350w, https:\/\/blog.lnb.lt\/lituanistika\/files\/2020\/03\/Film-poster_-geislingen-1-212x300.jpg 212w, https:\/\/blog.lnb.lt\/lituanistika\/files\/2020\/03\/Film-poster_-geislingen-1-177x250.jpg 177w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 85vw, 350px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the testimonies\nabout extreme poverty and especially difficult living conditions during and\nafter the war, Merits says that her film is also about hope and inspiration.\nAnd while the documentary tells a story of Estonian refugee children living in\nthe Geislingen refugee camp from 1945 to 1950, it is also the history of many Eastern\nEuropeans. The film draws parallels with the current situation of the refugees\nin Europe as well. \u201cComing Home Soon\u201d has already been screened in 11 countries\nand 24 European cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cComing Home Soon\u201d\nis the fifth documentary film by Helga Merits.
